BGE Careers Fair 2025
Our BGE Careers fair runs from 12th - 16th May and is suitable for P5 - S3 learners.
We'll hear from a range of sectors and industry experts about pathways into their careers and the routes they took and would recommend.
These live sessions will be a mix of Glow and Non-Glow, so please check the registration links next to each individual session:
Glow sessions- You will be added into the Glow Team where the sessions will take place (please note that you need to be logged into Glow to register)
Non-Glow sessions - These will be delivered via Microsoft Teams Webinars, and after registering you will be emailed a link where you can access the sessions. The linked webpage will contain an option for you to add the session to your calendar, or you can just click to join directly on the day at the correct time.
Glow Sessions
Please Note: You will need to register individually for each of the Glow sessions. Once registered you will be added to a Microsoft Team which is where the session will take place.
Careers (P4-7) - First Look at the World of Work
Three wonderful sessions introducing primary learners to the world of work are being delivered as part of this week:
- All about me; the skills and qualities young learners have acquired through their interests and activities.
- Build Your Own Brand; What learners put on social media can affect their future career.
- The first day of work; what to think about and what to expect.

Engineering (P4-7) – BEAR Cubs Engineers
The aim of the first session will be to explore the huge range of skills learners are developing and show links to the wide range of different engineering types. Learners will apply their learning to the “Who wants to be an Engineer?” challenge and can follow up with their BEAR Cub Skills Challenge afterwards. Materials will be provided for printing in advance.
(BEAR Cubs does have three other sessions on Bridge, Environmental and SUDS Engineers available later in the year also available after registering!)

Exploring Careers & Workplace Skills (P4-7) - Barclays Lifeskills
During this session Barclays LifeSkills on exploring careers and workplace skills learners will:
- Explore a range of jobs and sectors, and hear from different people who do them
- Match core transferable skills to different jobs
- Identify the skills they already possess, and which they could develop further
- Reflect on the best parts of different jobs and sectors, and the skills that will help

Languages (S1-3) – Languages and Your Career
In this interactive Languages and Your Career webinar offered by SCILT we will explore how languages can contribute to success in a wide range of jobs and career paths.
This session, aimed specifically at Secondary BGE learners (S1-3), will explore the fun, transferrable employability skills associated with languages. We will examine together how these are a valuable asset in any learner’s choices and look at some of the (perhaps surprising!) career pathways that they can lead to.

Non-Glow Sessions
Please Note: You only need to register for the non-Glow sessions once to access all of the non-Glow sessions. A separate webpage link will be emailed out closer to the time.
Cybersecurity (P5-S3) - Quorum Cyber
Quorum Cyber are bringing two panels of staff to speak to learners about their careers and experiences working in cybersecurity. The first session on Tuesday 13th May will focus on staff in technical roles helping to safeguard their client’s systems and respond to any incidents and breaches. The second session on Wednesday 14th May will focus on non-technical staff who support the company, find new clients and allow the technical team to focus on their roles.

Arts (Music) (P5-S3) – Ruairidh Geddes
Ruairidh will speak about his career as a freelance musician, the pathway he has taken into his career, the journey it has taken him on and his career inspiration.

Sports (P5-S3) – Willie Collum
Being a Referee: Jasiu Janowiec on balancing refereeing with playing and coaching and Cameron Stirling on his refereeing journey so far.

Arts (P4-7) – Scottish Opera Skills Webinars
During this 45-minute session learners will be introduced to the Scottish Opera and shown the scope of work required to put on a show, involving many different roles from singers, to finances to prop creation.
