These sessions provide young people with a chance to:

  • Understand more about the social enterprise business model
  • Explore a values driven approach to enterprise
  • Meet a social entrepreneur and ask questions
  • Plan how to set up and run a social enterprise
  • Develop skills related to entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability
  • Increase confidence and improve well-being by tacking a social or environmental issue that matters to them
  • Take part in a virtual Dragons’ Den to be in with a chance of winning seed funding to further develop their social enterprise idea

We also aim to support teachers in their own understanding of social enterprise and how they can support their young people to develop enterprise skills and the sense of agency that comes from tacking an issue they care deeply about. We are happy to offer CPD sessions where required (just get in touch) and ongoing support to teachers.

Breakdown of dates and content of each workshop:

  • 2nd February (What is social enterprise, what would you change?)
  • 9th February (What can you do? The actions)
    Midterm Break
  • 23rd February (Enterprise ideas)
  • 2nd March (Making the plan)
  • 9th March (Get Started – sharing ideas with other schools)

  • 23rd March (Drop in – Getting ready for DD)

Additional Requirements:
There will be interactive discussion throughout the session, if school staff could facilitate group discussion and support the communication between the tutor and the group of young people it would be much appreciated. It would be good if they could also take notes during the discussion (supporting documents will be provided for this) in order to prompt young people and support them as they develop their ideas between sessions.

Other Info:
By taking part, schools will be eligible to be nominated for a Social Enterprise in Education Award at our annual awards ceremony in June 2022.
