Participants will be introduced to Youth Work Skills Framework developed through YouthLink Scotland. They will learn about non-formal learning youth awards supporting development of key skills for learning, life and work and how the Framework can be assist with:

  • Planning opportunities for skills development with young people
  • Supporting young people to identify the skills they have developed
  • Reflection and improvement on their own practice
  • Developing collaborative practice with colleagues in other sectors

With input from young people (video clips) and youth awards providers, participants will consider how the Youth Work Skills Framework can help young people to identify, articulate and record their transferrable skills and support building their CV. Participants are encouraged to read Learning Resource 8: Wider Learning and Achievement and familiarise themselves with Amazing Things (5th edition) and the Youth Work Skills Framework.

We are initially offering a CLPL session for teachers only in November, repeated in December. Subject to feedback from participants, we would wish to consider a Workshop offer later in AY21/22 aimed at Senior Phase pupils.
