Description:
There are cognitive, social and economic benefits to using and learning more than one language in life. In this workshop, your pupils will find out how their talents and interests can work with language skills and intercultural understanding for enhanced outcomes in daily life and work, now and in the future. We will hear about a diverse range of people who use languages in their careers. This session is aimed at P4 – P7 learners. BGE Second level. Including bilingual pupils and those who are learning EAL.
A follow-up DYW themed resource specific to languages at BGE Second level will be shared with all teachers registered for the workshop.
AIMS: This workshop encourages mid/upper primary learners to think about their talents and interests, then to consider how they might be enhanced by communication skills in any language - home and taught, signed and spoken – and intercultural understanding.
DYW Context:
This workshop is an opportunity for mid/upper primary learners to think about the language and employability skills they are already developing, as well as how their talents and interests can be mutually beneficial to those skills in life and work, now and in the future. Specifically, this workshop complements the 'My interests', 'Stand up careers' and 'Same but different' activities for primary children on the My World of Work website.
