Description:
There are 14 Allied Health Professions making up the third largest workforce in NHS Scotland. Pupils will gain an insight into Allied health professions by interacting live with practitioners from across NHS Scotland in their workplace and by getting a chance to see their roles in action. They will explore the range of career opportunities available that may be a suitable match for their skills and interests.
These online sessions will spotlight careers in different Allied Health Professions on days celebrating the profession:
- You can be a Prosthetist or Orthotist – Celebrate Prosthetics and Orthotics Day Friday 6th of September 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be a Physiotherapist- Celebrate World Physiotherapy Day Tuesday 10th of September 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be a Podiatrist – Celebrate International Podiatry Day Tuesday 8th of October 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be an Allied Health Professional – Celebrate Allied Health Professions (AHPs) Day and find out more about the 14 AHPs Friday 11th of October 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be an Occupational Therapist – Celebrate World Occupational Therapy Day Monday 28th of October 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be a Radiographer – Celebrate World Radiography Day Friday 8th of November 2024, 09.45-10.30
- You can be a Speech and Language Therapist- Celebrate European Day of Speech and Language Therapy Thursday 6th of March 2025, 09.45-10.30
Sessions can also be organised on demand for those these times/dates are not suitable for - just ask after joining the team and we will check our capacity.
Resources will be shared with teachers for before the sessions and to provide further information for those interested afterwards.
Mentimeter will be used during the sessions to engage with learners so devices for individual or groups of learners is desirable.
DYW Context:
Pupils will gain an insight into professions in NHS Scotland. They may not realise the range of careers available in the NHS and the different opportunities that exist that may be a suitable match for their skills and interests.
Additional Requirements:
Webcam for class to support interaction. individual devices would be beneficial for learners to have for full participation to facilitate Mentimeter use. Teacher to facilitate any class discussions.
Certificate:
Your learners can receive their own certificate to their Glow email for attending this course. All they need to do is complete the feedback form. The certificate will include their name and the course they attended. Teachers will also receive a copy of the certificate.
