Description:
This interdisciplinary session introduces branding, exploring its purpose and what makes for a successful company logo. Pupils will participate in online, interactive questions and answers, and a quick-fire quiz to reflect on the power of some popular brands. They will then have a go at applying their learning to create their own brands. Afterwards, they will be encouraged to share their designs across the school to evaluate how successful they have been. We hope that this session will inspire creativity and any budding future entrepreneurs.

DYW Context:
Entrepreneurship and enterprise are widely thought to be a major driver for economic growth, job creation and wider community development – three things that are essential for Scotland to flourish as a nation.

Young people need to be prepared for a world that is changing rapidly. Many of the jobs they will do when they leave school do not yet exist and they will probably have several jobs during their lifetime. They need to have the skills and attitudes to cope with an unpredictable future, to be able to deal with setbacks and disappointments in a positive way, and to continue to learn for the rest of their lives. This is where Enterprise in Education can play a part.

SES definition of Enterprise in Education: "Combining creative ideas and innovative practice across the curriculum to equip young people with a range of skills they can apply to their learning, life and work".

Certificate:
Your learners can receive their own certificate to their Glow email for attending this course. All they need to do is complete the feedback form. The certificate will include their name and the course they attended. Teachers will also receive a copy of the certificate.

Additional Requirements:
Pupils will require individual access (or in pairs) to internet site www.menti.com via laptop, PC or tablet in order to participate in the session. Please check that our test quiz https://www.menti.com/r3nmw5svqs works by logging in on a device as a pupil via the school network before signing up to participate in this activity.

Pupils will also require access to paper and pens for sketching logo ideas (if preferred, this can be done digitally providing pupils are already familiar with a graphics package).

Due to the short duration of this session, pupils will need additional time in class to complete logo designs in order to carry out some ‘market testing’ in their own school after the call. Teachers can share photos of pupil work and receive feedback through social media by tagging @ScotEntSchools.
