Languages Week Scotland 2025

To celebrate Languages Week 2025 we have several exciting sessions taking place. The theme this year is "Our Multilingual Futures". All sessions will take place within Glow Teams.

A Taste of China

Monday 3rd - Wednesday 5th February time flexible, maximum of 6 sessions (45 minutes long)

S1-6 Learner Event: Interactive webinar

During 'A Taste of China' learners will be introduced to Chinese culture and language (Mandarin), with opportunities to continue learning for interested learners.

Building Their Multilingual Futures

Tuesday 4th February @ 4.00 – 5.00

Teacher event: Professional learning workshop.

In this session we will look at how we can prepare our learners for their multilingual futures by combining languages and employability in our curriculum at all stages.

MY Multilingual Future

Wednesday 5th February @ 11.00 – 12.00

S1-3 Learner event: Interactive webinar

Featuring quizzes, activities and discussion, this session for BGE learners will look at the transferrable employability and life skills associated with language learning. We will examine together how languages are a valuable asset in any learner’s choices.

Languages and Our Careers

Thursday 6th February @ 2.00 – 3.00:

S1-6 Learner event: Interactive webinar

This session will take the form of a panel discussion featuring young people from a range of study and work backgrounds sharing about their language learning experiences. There will be lots of opportunity to ask questions to the panel, as well as to take part in some fun activities. This is suitable for both BGE and Senior Phase learners.

Senior Phase Recorded Presentation

S4-6 Recorded Presentation: Asynchronous resource

We will publish a recorded presentation aimed at Senior Phase learners sharing tips and advice for study and exam preparation at this key point in their courses, as well as for possible future language learning opportunities.
